Three Sisters

Description

As part of my 2009-2010 Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship at Knox College, I designed the costumes for the November 2009 production of Anton Chekhov’s '‘Three Sisters’', directed by Prof. Neil Blackadder.

Research focused on the summer homes of the Russian aristocracy in the years leading up to the Bolshevik Revolution.
The costume changes across the acts reflect the different ways in which the characters deal with the reconciliation of their dreams with reality – leading to a sense of hopeful resignation.
